Rachel is a lovely 2 year-old Chihuahua mix. She is a sweet and loving girl and is great with people and other dogs. Rachel is with a loving foster family but cannot wait to find her forever home. Below are some quotes from her foster mom.

"Rachel was not potty trained at first but I got her trained by taking her out frequently and giving her treats as soon as she did go.  Now she knows the words "go potty, get a treat" and she will run outside and go potty.  I give her a treat and praise her right away.  She has been 100% reliable for weeks now w/ that."

"She's not a big barker and only barked when someone came to the door. Even then, she waited for our Pomeranian to start and then she would join him.  If it weren't for him, I don't know if she would even bark then."

"She is a people-oriented dog and LOVES her people.  She is fairly independent when she needs to be, is not overly reliant and will not make trouble when you're gone but when you're home she wants to be with her person."

Lastly, as the photo shows, Rachel is wonderful with her foster sister who was very scared and looked to Rachel as a surrogate mother.

How much does it COST to adopt?

Northern California Family Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation & rehoming of homeless dogs.  Our standard adoption fees are $300-400 for adult dogs and $350-450 for puppies, and occasionally more for rare or purebred dogs.   Your adoption fee includes DA2PP, Bordetella & Rabies vaccines, deworming, flea treatment & heartworm preventative, spay/neuter surgery, microchip &  Wellness Exam, & helps cover the costs of food, transport, veterinary needs, shelter maintenance and staffing for every pup in our care.   We rely solely on adoption fees and donations to keep us going, so we ask that you be as generous as you can!
